The HECO Aurora 700 is a floorstanding speaker that delivers a detailed and powerful sound with a modern and elegant design. It is part of the Aurora series, which features innovative technology and high-quality materials. The Aurora 700 is suitable for music and home theater enthusiasts who want to enjoy a dynamic and natural sound with a wide dispersion and a deep bass.
The Aurora 700 features a three-way bass reflex design, which means it has three separate drivers for low, mid, and high frequencies, and a ported enclosure that enhances the bass response. The drivers are carefully selected and optimized to work together harmoniously and deliver a balanced and coherent sound across the frequency spectrum.
The low frequencies are handled by two 170 mm woofers, which have kraft paper cones that are light, stiff, and fast. Kraft paper is a traditional material that has been used by HECO for decades, and it is known for its natural and warm sound. The woofers can reproduce deep and punchy bass with minimal distortion and compression.
The midrange frequencies are reproduced by a 170 mm driver, which also has a kraft paper cone. The midrange driver is responsible for the most important part of the sound, where the human voice and most musical instruments are located. The midrange driver ensures a clear and detailed sound with a smooth and realistic tonality.
The high frequencies are reproduced by a 28 mm fabric dome tweeter, which is part of the Fluktus system developed by HECO. The Fluktus tweeter has a corrugated flange that surrounds the dome and acts as a waveguide, improving the dispersion and reducing the diffraction of the sound waves. The fabric dome is soft and flexible, which results in a smooth and silky sound with a high level of resolution and transparency.
The drivers are mounted on a sturdy and multi-braced cabinet, which is made of MDF and has a thickness of 25 mm. The cabinet has an L-shaped resin baffle that covers the front and top of the speaker, adding rigidity and reducing resonance. The cabinet is available in two color options: ebony black or ivory white, both with a silk matte lacquer finish. The cabinet is also equipped with crossbeams and height-adjustable metal cone spikes, which provide stability and isolation from the floor.
The Aurora 700 has a high sensitivity of 92 dB, which means it can produce a loud sound with a relatively low power input. The speaker has a nominal impedance of 4 ohms, which is not difficult to drive for most amplifiers. The speaker has a frequency response of 25 - 42,500 Hz, which covers the entire audible range and beyond. The speaker has a crossover frequency of 290 and 3,300 Hz, which is the point where the sound is divided between the drivers.
The Aurora 700 has a pair of gold-plated binding posts at the back of the cabinet, which allow for bi-wiring or bi-amping. Bi-wiring means using two separate cables to connect the speaker to the amplifier, one for the low and mid frequencies and one for the high frequencies. Bi-amping means using two separate amplifiers to power the speaker, one for the low and mid frequencies and one for the high frequencies. Both methods can improve the sound quality by reducing the interference and increasing the headroom.
The Aurora 700 is a speaker that offers a lot of value for its price. It is a speaker that can deliver a rich and full sound with a wide dynamic range and a broad and even dispersion. It is a speaker that can handle any genre of music and any type of content with ease and grace. It is a speaker that can create a lifelike and immersive soundstage that will make you feel like you are in the middle of the action. It is a speaker that will make you fall in love with your music and movies all over again.
