Wharfedale AURA CS

The Wharfedale AURA CS is a 2-way passive bass reflex center channel speaker that delivers a class-leading performance with a class-defying price tag. It is part of the AURA series, which takes inspiration from the flagship ELYSIAN series and features advanced technology such as the Wharfedale AMT high-frequency transducer, the glass fibre matrix midrange and bass cones, the SLPP port system, and the multi-layer cabinets.

The AURA CS is equipped with a 1.0625 x 3.5" AMT (Air Motion Transformer) tweeter, which produces high-frequency sound with low distortion, high speed, and extraordinary detail. The AMT tweeter does not move like a conventional dome or ribbon diaphragm, but instead folds and unfolds like an accordion, creating a more efficient and accurate way of moving air. The AMT tweeter is matched by two 5" glass fibre matrix woofers, which have rigid and lightweight diaphragms that are driven by powerful voice coils immersed in high flux magnetic fields. The woofers deliver a smooth and dynamic midrange and bass response, with excellent transient accuracy and stability.

The AURA CS has a frequency response range of 56-22k Hz at ±3dB (45Hz at -6dB) and a sensitivity of 89 dB. It can handle a power range of 25-150 watts and has an impedance of 4 ohms. The speaker has a slot-loaded profiled port (SLPP) design, which reduces unwanted turbulence and improves the efficiency of the bass reflex system. The SLPP port is downward-facing and distributes the airflow through a series of slots in the plinth, creating a better match between the high-pressure air from the port and the low-pressure air in the room. The speaker also has a multi-layer cabinet, which is made of MDF and HDF materials and has a curved front baffle that reduces diffraction and enhances sound quality. The cabinet is finished with a high-gloss lacquer and has a rubber trim ring around each driver to control resonance.
