The Diamond 28 mkII features a 2.5-way design with two 18cm mid-woofers and a 19mm tweeter, all made by reputable Scandinavian companies Seas and Scan-Speak. The upper mid-woofer has a phase plug and a lightweight 1-inch voice coil, while the lower woofer has a massive magnetic system and a 1.5-inch coil with a wide linear range of motion. These drivers are closely matched to each other, ensuring a consistent sound source that is less sensitive to changes in listening height, with improved cooperation in the acoustic field.

The tweeter is a Scan-Speak design with a neodymium magnetic system, a dual resonant chamber, and a changed front made of durable cellular rubber in a black color that complements the design. These changes contribute to even better detail and microdynamics in the highest frequencies, along with increased efficiency, control, and reduced nonlinear distortions.

The cabinet has a slightly greater tilt, which enhances the time integration of individual frequency bands, as well as the aesthetic appeal. The column base has also been completely redesigned, giving the system a sleeker silhouette while maintaining a timeless, minimalist character. The enclosure is made of solid MDF, with carefully placed reinforcements and ribs, and a new sound-absorbing material alongside natural sheep’s wool. The entire setup has been tested using a laser vibrometer and an anechoic chamber.

The Diamond 28 mkII delivers a dynamic, coherent, and detailed sound that differentiates recordings well. The lowest frequencies have gained in depth, speed, and control. The midrange exhibits even greater naturalness and neutrality, while the high end has become even more refined. The speakers are dedicated for use in rooms with a floor area from 25 to 45 m2.
