Collection: Floorstanding Speakers

Floorstanding speakers combine scale, dynamics and extended bass response in a full-range design, making them an excellent choice for both dedicated hi-fi systems and high-performance home cinema setups.

Our selection ranges from elegant, room-friendly floorstanders to large reference loudspeakers designed for greater listening distances and room volumes. Use the filters below to narrow your choice by brand, room size and placement requirements.

How to choose floorstanding speakers

Floorstanding speakers offer greater scale, dynamics and bass extension than most compact speakers, but choosing the right model depends on more than cabinet size or price.

Room size

Room size is one of the most important factors. Compact floorstanding speakers are generally better suited to medium-sized rooms, while larger designs with greater cabinet volume and multiple or larger bass drivers can take advantage of bigger spaces and longer listening distances.

A speaker that is too large for the room can produce excessive bass energy, while an undersized model may struggle to deliver the scale and dynamics expected in a larger listening space.

Placement

Floorstanding speakers also differ considerably in their placement requirements. Some designs work well relatively close to the rear wall, making them easier to integrate into living spaces. Others perform best with more distance from surrounding walls, allowing the bass response and stereo imaging to develop properly.

Our Placement recommendations indicate how much freedom each speaker generally requires and can be especially useful when room layout limits where the speakers can be positioned.

Amplifier matching

Sensitivity, impedance and room size all influence amplifier requirements. Highly efficient floorstanding speakers can achieve substantial dynamics with relatively modest amplification, while more demanding designs benefit from an amplifier with greater current capability and power reserves.

The amplifier should therefore be considered together with the speaker and the room rather than simply matched according to its quoted wattage.

Finding the right match

Use the Recommended room size and Placement filters to narrow the selection according to your listening environment. These recommendations are intended as practical starting points rather than absolute rules, as room acoustics, listening distance, amplification and personal listening preferences all influence the final result.

Understanding our recommendations

Use these recommendations as a starting point when choosing the floorstanding speakers best suited to your room and installation.

Recommended room size

Small room — up to approximately 15 m²
Medium room — approximately 15–30 m²
Large room — approximately 30 m² and above

Placement

Close to Wall — typically 10–25 cm from the rear wall
Flexible Placement — typically 20–50 cm from the rear wall
Free space — ideally 50 cm or more from the rear wall

These are ExclusivIT starting recommendations, not absolute requirements. Room acoustics, listening position and the desired bass balance can influence the optimum placement.
