The LEAK Sandwich 150 loudspeakers are the ultimate evolution of a classic British design that debuted in 1961. These 2-way standmount speakers combine a 6.5" (170mm) low-frequency 'Sandwich' driver and a 1.2" (30mm) coated textile dome high-frequency driver to deliver a remarkably smooth and accurate sound.
The Sandwich driver is the result of LEAK's innovative engineering, which uses a stiff aluminium skin bonded to a thick core of polymethacrylimide (PMI) foam. This gives the cone immense rigidity and lightness, enabling it to reproduce the signal applied to the voice coil without any mechanical break-up or distortion. The Sandwich driver also has a wide frequency range of 44Hz-26kHz, ensuring a balanced and detailed sound across the spectrum.
The coated textile dome tweeter is designed to provide a clear and natural high-frequency response, with minimal distortion and coloration. The tweeter has a ferrofluid-cooled voice coil and a neodymium magnet for high efficiency and low distortion. The tweeter also features a waveguide to improve the dispersion and integration with the Sandwich driver.
The LEAK Sandwich 150 loudspeakers have a sensitivity of 86.5 dB and a nominal impedance of 8 ohms, making them easy to drive with most amplifiers. They also have a sleek and elegant design, with a walnut veneer finish and a magnetic grille. The speakers come with rubber feet and optional spikes for optimal placement and stability.
The LEAK Sandwich 150 loudspeakers have a crossover frequency of 2.4kHz, using high-quality components and a second-order Linkwitz-Riley filter. The crossover ensures a smooth transition between the drivers and a coherent soundstage. The speakers also have gold-plated binding posts for secure and reliable connections.
If you are looking for a pair of speakers that combine the vintage appeal of LEAK's heritage with the state-of-the-art performance of modern technology, the LEAK Sandwich 150 loudspeakers are the perfect choice for you. They offer a rich and detailed sound that will bring your music to life.
